Karen Anne Carpenter and Richard Lynn Carpenter, who are sister and brother, had a string of hits between 1969 and 1983 including Close To You, We've Only Just Begun, Rainy Days And Mondays, and many others. Sadly, on February 4, 1983, Karen passed away after a long battle with anorexia nervosa. She was 32 years old. Richard Carpenter is now living in California with his wife and four children.
